Love in PoliticsLove has a
place in
politics, but it is the love for one's country, for one's
countrymen,
for the
glory, greatness and happiness of the race, the divine aananda of
self-immolation for one's fellows, the ecstacy of relieving their
sufferings,
the joy of seeing one's blood flow for country and freedom, the bliss
of union
in death with the fathers of the race.
The feeling of almost physical
delight
in the touch of the mother soil, of the winds that blow from Indian
seas, of
the rivers that stream from Indian hills, in the sight of Indian
surroundings,
Indian men, Indian women, Indian children, in the hearing of Indian
speech,
music, poetry, in the familiar sights, sounds, habits, dress, manners
of our
Indian life, this is the physical root of that love [of Mother India].
The pride in our
past, the
pain of our present, the passion for the future are its trunk and
branches.
Self-sacrifice, self-forgetfulness, great service and high endurance
for the
country are its fruit.
And the sap which keeps it alive is the
realisation of
the Motherhood of God in the country, the vision of the Mother, the
knowledge
of the Mother, the perpetual contemplation, adoration and service of
the
Mother.
In response to my plea for old concerts, many rasikas generously responded by
mailing cassettes or uploading their collections to me. In this page I provide
all of them online.
One of my cherished goals for putting up this website is to collect and make
available online some of those old (pre-1975) concerts by stalwarts which are so
precious and rare to obtain. They are all locked up in the private music
collections of a few individuals, who are not willing to share them with others
for fear of loss.
That's precisely where the Internet helps, isn't it, to house music in an
indestructible but widely shareable form?
Hence I request rasikas to come forward and share with me copies of those
rare concerts so I can put them online to give everybody an oppurtunity to share
the sangItAmR^itaM ! You'll be duly recognized on the website for your
contribution. And rest assured that it will not be used for profit.
For starters, I am looking for the following:
pre-1970 concerts by M. Balamurali Krishna
pre-1975 concerts by Vinjamuri Varadaraja Iyengar, M.D.Ramanathan, GNB,
Oleti, Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu (violin), or their gurus.
You can send your collection to me in several ways:
You can upload music files to my
upload website in mp3 or
realaudio format, at your convenience.
(The site is password-protected; send me email to get the password).
You are also welcome to send me copies of your cassettes/CDs by postal
mail. Please email me and I'll give you my postal address in the U.S. or India.
I'll put them on my website for everybody's benefit soon after receiving them.
