India-greatness
In the noble heroic age of the Aryan people there was not so
much
shouting and gesticulating, but the endeavour they set in motion lasted
many centuries. The Indian's
endeavour [nowadays] lasts for a day or two.
You say what is needed is emotional excitement, to fill the country
with enthusiasm. We did all that in the political field during the
Swadeshi period; but all we did now lies in the dust....
Therefore I no longer wish to make
emotional excitement, feeling and
mental enthusiasm the base. I want to make a vast and herioc
equality
the foundation of my yoga; in all the activities of the being, of the aadhaar [vessel] based on that
equality, I want a complete, firm and unshakable Shakti; over that
ocean of Shakti I want the vast radiation of the sun of Knowledge and
in that luminous vastness an established ecstasy of infinite love and
bliss and oneness. I do not want tens of thousands of disciples; it
will be enough if I can get as instruments of God a hundred complete
men free from petty egoism. I have no faith in the customary trade of
guru. I do not want to be a guru. What
I want is that a few, awakened
at my touch or at that of another, will
manifest from within, their
sleeping divinity and realise the divine life. It is such men who will
raise this country.
In response to my plea for old concerts, many rasikas generously responded by
mailing cassettes or uploading their collections to me. In this page I provide
all of them online.
One of my cherished goals for putting up this website is to collect and make
available online some of those old (pre-1975) concerts by stalwarts which are so
precious and rare to obtain. They are all locked up in the private music
collections of a few individuals, who are not willing to share them with others
for fear of loss.
That's precisely where the Internet helps, isn't it, to house music in an
indestructible but widely shareable form?
Hence I request rasikas to come forward and share with me copies of those
rare concerts so I can put them online to give everybody an oppurtunity to share
the sangItAmR^itaM ! You'll be duly recognized on the website for your
contribution. And rest assured that it will not be used for profit.
For starters, I am looking for the following:
pre-1970 concerts by M. Balamurali Krishna
pre-1975 concerts by Vinjamuri Varadaraja Iyengar, M.D.Ramanathan, GNB,
Oleti, Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu (violin), or their gurus.
You can send your collection to me in several ways:
You can upload music files to my
upload website in mp3 or
realaudio format, at your convenience.
(The site is password-protected; send me email to get the password).
You are also welcome to send me copies of your cassettes/CDs by postal
mail. Please email me and I'll give you my postal address in the U.S. or India.
I'll put them on my website for everybody's benefit soon after receiving them.
